A week of speaking to residents
With Parliament in recess last week I spent a lot of time speaking with Blackpool South constituents. My commitment to you is to be open and accessible and that’s why I have created a few different ways for us to meet and chat, beyond the traditional MP’s surgery.
My Chat with Chris events are open public Q&As held as part of my commitment to being an open and accessible MP.
Last week I held two Chat with Chris events – one in person at a South Shore community centre and one on Facebook Live (see video below). During both these events residents were able to ask me their questions directly – about policy and plans made by the new Labour Government, or about the issues affecting them which I have got on to help them with.
I also hosted a street surgery in Marton where I knocked on residents’ doors to hear their concerns and answer their questions directly. This means people don’t need to make the effort to travel to my office to be able to tell me about their concerns.
Whether for a local Chat with Chris event or a street surgery, residents in the area I am visiting will receive a letter with more details of the events in the post. This is particularly important for residents who don’t routinely use the internet to find information.
I will be organising more street surgeries, street stalls, and Chat with Chris events across all 16 wards and online. These initiatives are about ensuring your voice is heard and working together to build a better Blackpool.
Keep your eye on my events calendar for future opportunities to meet me. If you have any issues you'd like to discuss in the mean time, you can also email me at chris.webb.mp@parliament.uk.
